Friends of Ewell Grove (FOEG)
The Friends of Ewell Grove is Ewell Grove’s parent/teacher association (PTA) and by joining the school you are automatically a member. We are run by a committee of parent volunteers with an aim to raise money for our school, having as much fun as possible in the process!
Whilst some of our events are more profitable that others, raising money isn’t always our sole objective. For us the sense of school community is a huge part of what we do. As such we also run events throughout the year purely for the social aspects; giving parents a chance to meet new friends, and organising activities for the children such as our popular Bubble Bursting and Easter Egg hunts. We also aim to forge links with local businesses and the community at large.
We are a friendly enthusiastic group where nobody’s contribution is too small! Every penny raised directly benefits your child.
How have the children benefited?
Last year FOEG donated over £20,000 to the school. Most recently money we raised has been used to completely refurbish the classroom libraries, buy computer equipment for the school and provide new playground markings.
Two new outside table tennis tables were installed for the older years, and the nursery/reception play area has had a complete overhaul including a new stage, seating, screening, ride on train and an outside reading den.
In previous years our fundraising has paid for many things which are still well used today; such as the sound system in the school hall, interactive whiteboards in every classroom and the multi sports area in the orchard. Every year we also donate the school Christmas Tree.
How can you help with events?
Being a member of the FOEG is not only rewarding, fun and sociable but a great way to meet new friends and learn how the pupils and teachers of Ewell Grove Primary school benefit from our fundraising.
There are many different ways you can help, whether you have lots of time to offer or not. None of our events would be a success without the parents and children who attend and take part.
We are always in need of volunteers; whether it’s running stalls at our Fairs, helping to serve cakes at a cake sale or serving refreshments at various open days and children’s performances. Even if you can only offer half an hour of your time, this will be greatly appreciated.
This year we are also looking at ideas for new online or socially distanced events, so we always welcome any new ideas that you may have.
How else can you raise money for us?
As well as supporting FOEG events there are many easy ways that you can raise money for the school which really make a huge difference. Especially this year when our physical events have had to be scaled back.
Amazon Smile - Amazon will donate 0.5% of your eligible purchases on Amazon to a charity of your choice. All you need to do is start your shopping at smile.amazon.co.uk (same amazon account & password, prices, products and access to your Prime account/wish lists etc.) and choose Friends of Ewell Grove as your charity.
Easy Fundraising – Similar to Amazon Smile but for hundreds of other online retailers; including M&S, Argos, Sainsburys and John Lewis, to name but a few. Go to easyfundraising.org.uk and register for an account choosing Friends of Ewell Grove as your charity, then just start shopping! As long as you navigate to the stores web page from easyfundraising we will get a donation. So far they have donated over £1,300 to the school so all those little purchases really do add up.
Corporate Donations / Match Funding – Some larger business have charity schemes and will donate to a charity on your behalf, or match money you raise. This can really make a huge difference to the school so if you work for a large company and are able to speak to your HR department about any charity initiatives we’d love to hear from you.
How can I find out more?
We are always delighted to hear from anybody who would like to get involved, no matter how much or how little you can do, whether that is behind the scenes helping us with things that can be done at home or helping out at one of our many events. We welcome anyone with an interest in our school; parents, carers, childminders, grandparents and staff
